EVOLUTION
Born Kimberly Crawley in Camden NJ, Evolution began writing poetry when she was eight years old after the transformation of her Grandmother. She had already been a student of the piano and voice so writing poetry fit right into the scheme of things. Evolution had performed poetry at local talent shows growing up and won the Governors School award while in high school but it wasn't until she went to Kean University and saw fellow classmates "Touch of Reality", perform that she flourished into a spoken word artist. She spent every friday in newark NJ at Groove Drops, hosted by Jerry Gant performing. There she shared the stage with talented poets like Atalam Acey and Runnaway poet. At that time the Nuyorican Poets Cafe was just a legendary place that she had heard of and never been. It wasn't until she placed second in a Def Poetry audition at Club 113 that Keith Roach made a phone call and recomended that evolution be entered into a slam at the Nuyorican. Evolution was slam finalist in 2002 which led to her touring the east coast college circuit. Skidmore, Colgate, and Pace are just a few of the colleges Evolution has performed at.
These days Evolution has been concentrating on music and production but she never stops being a poet. She is currently working on her first book of poetry Circle Of Inscents. Her goal is to be remembered as a poet of her time and hopes that something shes written may have made an impact on someones life.
