The Nuyorican Poetry Slam is an opportunity for those in the spoken word community to get on stage and share their gift with other aspiring poets.
The poetry slams are hosted by Mahogany Browne on Fridays and Jive Poetic on Wednesdays. The open slam is presented every wednesday and the poetry slam every friday at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. This is a legendary hip hop poetry club in New York City's East Village. It is known as the home for Poetry Slam in New York, as well as the hip hop and poetry open mic event All That! as well as the IPA Beat Battle.
You must win the open slam to compete in the poetry slam.
